1997 Summer League: Cicero Bohemians

GM Swinea returns to the competitive APBA world and discovers that the dice and cardboard charts have been replaced with a computer. Based Draft Day decisions on pure statistics and disregarded any thought about the computer game basically just being an extension of the board game and the ballplayer's Wizardized cards.

Welcomed back into Friendly APBA Confines by being Blitzkreiged in first 5 game series by APBA Savant Greg Nims 4 games to 1. Recovered to post a 20-18 record at one point only to finish the season at 72-90. Misguided thought process in over analyzing the platoon ratings and fielding a line-up which discouraged the opposing pitcher from gaining any addtioanl advantage by increasing their rating. This resulted in 4 time SL champion Jay Buhner and his R3 platoon rating from starting against right handed pitching and trotting John Maybry out into right filed. Traded a struggling Mark Grace and backup catcher Tom Lampkin for Rich Becker and Ron Karkovice. Unsuccessful in finding a slugging first baseman all season.

Kevin Seitzer, Brian McRae and Ken Caminitti (sans fielding) had solid campaigns for the Bohunks. Julio Franco, Fred McGriff, Dante Bichette and Kevin Appier spent their SL 1997 trying to justify why they were even born.
