Scott's Mock Draft

5/5/2025

Okay, here we go!

Hollywood - The Stars already have some young, high potential players in their QB room with Bryce Young and Anthony Richardson. They also have 36-year old Russell Wilson on the roster but inconsistency and injuries have been an issue. With the first overall pick, Hollywood goes with QB Jayden Daniels to get some stability for at least the next decade. They may be looking for a trade partner to unload some of their other talent.

Carbon - With the second pick in the draft, the Monoxide add WR10 Malik Nabers to a talented but aging receiving group. With three WR1's on the roster in Devante Adams, DK Metcalf and Nabers, QB C.J. Stroud has a variety of options to try to elevate the team out of the AFA basement this year. They have some solid young players on the offensive line already and continue to build.

Albuquerque - With only 317 points scored last year, the Snakes desperately need to add some playmakers to support superstars QB Joe Burrow and WR Ja'Marr Chase. They opt for the WR with the best stats in the draft and select WR8 Brian Thomas Jr. They still need to fill some holes in the running game and along the offensive line but the combination of Chase and Thomas Jr. adds explosive potential to their air attack.

San Antonio - The Vikings have talent all through their roster, including two +1,400-yard rushers and three +1,000-yard receivers. QB Geno Smith put up decent numbers and Dak Prescott should be back from injury so San Antonio shifts their attention to defence. They add OLB9 Nik Bonitto and his 14 sacks to an already solid defence at every level. With the added QB pressures, watch for the Vikings to get back to the playoffs this year.

Kansas City - Only a year removed from an AFA Championship in 2023, the Beast have some quality pieces already in place. They need to tighten up their defence though and select the Defensive Rookie of the Year OLB8 Jared Verse. KC is still missing an elite player in their secondary, but the addition of Verse further strengthens an already strong front seven. They will be looking to challenge for a playoff spot this year.

Krakow - The Kielbasa are trilled to have generational talent TE9 Brock Bowers fall to them at six. With outstanding, young receivers in Zay Flowers and Garrett Wilson already in place, Bowers elevates an already strong passing attack. QB's Jared Goff and Baker Mayfield are thrilled with the selection. They will need to address the running game in early rounds but there should be some options later in the draft.

Spokane - With QB Kyler Murray already on the roster, the Sabercats have some time to draft and develop an upgraded replacement. They choose to take QB Caleb Williams with the hope that he realizes his full potential. Williams numbers weren't great, but as the top pick last year in the fall league, expectations high. Spokane has a balanced team that should challenge for a playoff spot, so decide to build for the future.

Cleveland - The Force look to compliment their already stout defence by upgrading an anemic run game by selecting RB Bucky Irvine. His 5.4 yards/carry average and 1,122 rushing yards adds some explosion and takes pressure off their current leading rusher QB Jalen Hurts. Hurts and Irvine will combine to keep opponents guessing, and their defence should help to control the clock to keep them in close games.

Alaska - The Grizzlies are stacked everywhere except in the trenches. They decide to take the best player available on the offensive line with T7 Joe Alt. Alt's rating seems low, but he should develop into a solid player to help protect QB Josh Allen for years to come. Alt should also help give Allen more time to find superstar WR's Ceedee Lamb and Aman-Ra St. Brown, and get past the first round of the playoffs next year.

Arizona - With injury concerns for both of their QB's Trevor Lawrence and Deshaun Watson, the Tombstone decide to take Bo Nix to fill a major hole. Lawrence may become a trade option to help improve other areas and it's unlikely Watson will be back. Despite being in the twilight of his career at 31 years old, RB Derek Henry hasn't shown any signs of slowing down and should help transition to a new signal caller in Arizona.

Indianapolis - Having watched the top three QB's already come off the board, the Cobras briefly consider Sam Darnold as a stop gap or Drake May as a developmental option. Instead, they decide to take WR8 Ladd McConkey. While not the big name that some of the other receivers are, he did put up 1,149 yards and 7 TD's and set the Chargers rookie reception record. He will pair nicely with Nico Collins for QB Joe Flacco or whoever is throwing the ball for the Cobras next year.

San Diego - The Sun also briefly consider a QB to replace injury prone Tua Tagovailoa. Having a player with a 10 rating this far into the draft is just too tempting though and they take LB10 Zach Baun. Without an elite talent on their defence, Baun's ability to play any position at the linebacker level gives them the option to move DE-LB Joey Bosa onto the line to solidify both levels of the front seven. At only 27 years old Baun also has a lot of playing time ahead of him to anchor the defence for years.

Las Vegas - Aaron Rogers must have been in the ear of management because the Plague also decide to pass on a QB this year. Rogers, err, the Plague select who many considered the top talent in the NFL draft last year, WR6 Marvin Harrison Jr. Expectations are that Harrison will develop into a top tier WR despite only a 6 rating in AFA. He will push Cooper Kupp into the slot and partner with Jordan Addison as a formidable duo on the outside for years to come.

New York - The Knights have talent all over the field and with an elite defence and 2,005-yard RB Saquon Barkley, will be in the mix again to challenge for a championship. They decide to further strengthen their secondary and select CB8 Quinyon Mitchell. With CB10+ Pat Surtain, S10 Xavier McKinney and S9 Kyle Hamilton already on the roster, Mitchell's addition will make it impossible for opponents to pass against. They may need it if they want to beat Chicago in the playoffs this year.

Chicago - With the luxury of picking the best player available every year, the Caravan have built a juggernaut. The only position they're lacking is at Centre so they're delighted to have C8 Zach Frazier fall to them at the bottom of the first round. Frazier immediately upgrades the offensive line to open lanes for RB Aaron Jones and protect QB Patrick Mahomes. With an elite defence and the only hole now plugged on offense, it would be an upset for the Caravan not to be a contender again this year.

Pittsburg - The champs had a storybook run last year with an almost perfect 17-1 regular season record. Their 15.4-point differential was the best in the league and they're ready to defend the AFA title. There's work to do though and the Roughriders decide to take DE-LB Chop Robinson to give them some flexibility on defence. He would be an upgrade at both positions and will immediately help a defence that allowed the fewest points in the league last year.

Good luck this year!
