BALTIMORE -- The Bombers ground out 208 yards rushing against the banged-up Hollywood D and Joey Galloway snared a pair of TD passes as Baltimore took the Stars 27-17 at Memorial Stadium.
Hollywood threatened to make a game of it late, driving inside the B-26 ten with two minutes to go. But Mark Brunell fired incomplete on third and fourth down, icing the game for Chris Strovel's troops.
The afternoon got off to a disastrous start for Hollywood when Michael Sinclair sacked Brunell on third and long and recovered the rock on the Star eight. Steve McNair took it across the goal-line from the one three plays later to put Baltimore on top.
After a Jason Elam field goal stretched the lead to 10, the Stars finally got untracked with a 67-yard drive capped off by Eddie George's short TD run. But Baltimore restored the lead to 10 just before the half on Galloway's first TD reception.
The Stars, playing without three defensive starters, made the Balty crowd nervous six minutes into the final period when Randy Moss finally got his mojo working. Moss, who was blanked for three periods, caught a 5-yard touchdown from Brunell to pull the Stars within three at 20-17.
But the Star defense couldn't respond. Baltimore proceeded to go on a long TD drive of its own to leave the Stars in a serious jam, with McNair connecting with Galloway on a 22-yard strike for the score.
Duce Staley was the spark of the running game for the B-26s despite seeing only spot action. Staley racked up 85 yards in 10 carries, while starter Priest Holmes had 86 in 25 attempts. Roman Phifer, fresh from his rest on Week 18, led the D with six tackles and a pair of stuffs.
