Now 28. 1B Gaby Sanchez- a throw in in the Billy Butler trade, always just a platoon player, didn't play MLB in 2015 2B Chase Utley - Utley and Ortiz both high draft picks in 2012, they had been cut because they were viewed as too old. Ortiz still raking. Utley finally average. 2B Kris Negron- one year rental- .329/.397/.600 in 70 ABs as a pinch hitter- ABA 2015 2B Jeff Baker- two year rental- .304/.352/.438 as a platoon player- ABA 2015 3B Rafael Ynoa- one year rental- disappointing .267/.336/.296 platoon stats- ABA 2015 OF Domonic Brown- 2nd round pick in 2011, one good HR month in 2013 but never really had a break out season. Now 28. P Neftali Feliz- 1st round pick in 2010, more often on the farm than the roster. Now 27. Last player from 2010 draft still on roster, although I did draft Ian Desmond that year. P Doug Fister- Free agent pickup in 2010, lasted quite a long time before major down year in MLB 2015. P Kyle Lohse- Acquired for the playoff run in 2014 for Alex Wood. Lohse possibly the worst MLB pitcher in 2015. 9-9 in ABA. Wood still good in MLB but also still left-handed. 14-13 in ABA 2015. P J.P. Howell- Rental than lasted 2 years. 8th round pick in 2014. Used to give up few homers, now gives up a few more. Simply horrible in ABA 2015. P Pedro Strop- Rental. 8th round pick in 2015 draft. Better than average in ABA 2015. Hartford Dark Blues Keepers Robinson Chirinos C Devin Mesoraco C Brayan Pena C David Freese 3B Pablo Sandoval 3B Troy Tulowitzki SS Chris Coghlan OF Eduardo Escobar OF Enrique "Kike'" Hernandez OF Seth Smith OF Carlos Gomez OF Mike Trout OF David Ortiz DH Kyle Hendricks P Aaron Sanchez P Joe Kelly P Stephen Strasburg P Marcus Stroman P George Kontos P Jake McGee P --- Fairbanks Keepers ----------------- Yonder Alonso - 2015 post 13th round draft pick. Selected to start at third base against right handed pitching after all other targeted third basemen were drafted. Performed above and beyond my expectations as he was not even on my radar during the draft. Once realized I was going to select him, hoped he would have a 28 year old career MLB 2015 season. Started strong but fizzled as the MLB season continued. Jake Arrieta - Traded for at the tail end of the ABA 2015 season to strengthen the starting staff and hoping his talent will continue in MLB and transfer successfully into the ABA. Pitched decent in the regular season for me and had a bad start in his one playoff appearance. Enjoying a strong MLB 2015 and hopefully more. Preferred long term over second round selection Mike Fiers but Gary with San Jose selected him in the first round. Carlos Beltran - 2015 8th round draft pick. Selected to start at DH against right handed pitching and hoped he would have a healthy MLB 2015. Had a stronger MLB 2015 season against right handed pitching then MLB 2014. Aroldis Chapman - ABA 2012 2nd round draft choice. 11.6 K/9 ABA 2015. Top 10 at # 10 for total strikeouts in ABA 2015. Rubby De La Rosa - 8th round 2012 selection. MLB 2015 was his first full season back from Tommy John. He will not have a very good ABA 2016 season but hoping going forward his MLB seasons will improve. Edwin Encarnacion - A Keeper gift from former GM Dan. One of the many cornerstones Dan had in place when I came to the franchise for the 2012 ABA season. Brett Gardner - Fizzled in the second half of MLB 2015 but still a Keeper. Drafted by Dan in the 8th round of the ABA 2010 draft. Randal Grichuk - 11th round ABA 2015 draft. So happy he was there to be drafted as I was hoping for a MLB 2015 that he had. Cardinals. Outfield. Young. Talented. Hoping he is a steal for many years. Matt Harvey - 1st round 2013 draft selection. I was hoping he would be there at 10 for me and he was. Came back from Tommy John surgery for a pretty successful MLB 2015 season. Sat out ABA 2015 on the farm but looking forward to having him back on the active roster for ABA 2016 and beyond. John Jaso - 5th round ABA 2014 draft choice. I was drafting a team that I thought could make the playoffs and Jaso was a strong starting bat against right handed pitching as he historically is. Was happy he was there in the 5th round as I was contemplating taking him in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th but opted for others that I valued more then Jaso at that point. Most likely will not be ABA 2016 start eligible. Adam Jones - Another corner stone piece from Dan. I am not sure how Dan acquired him as I see he was drafted by Jeff with Miami in the ABA 2011 draft 6th round but can not find the trail from him getting to Fairbanks from Miami. Like Alonso and Gardner, he has fizzled in the second half of MLB 2015. Michael Pineda - First draft pick of mine in the ABA 2011 draft at #4. Having a disappointing MLB 2015 as he too is working his way back into good health and strength in MLB from Tommy John and some other health related issues. I have high hopes for his future in MLB and the ABA. Buster Posey - 1st round ABA 2011 draft pick gift from Dan. Another inherited cornerstone. Seems like his successful MLB seasons do not always transfer completely into his ABA numbers but I do not hold that against this ballplayer. Wilin Rosario - ABA 2012 4th round selection. Young power hitting catcher - first baseman playing in Denver's thin air. A poor MLB 2015 season. Hoping he turns things around in MLB 2016. Julio Teheran - 2nd round ABA selection in the 2012 draft. Drafted in a slot obtained by Dan in trade Memphis and Chuck. Very happy this future talent was there to be picked and I did. Very disappointing MLB 2015. Hoping he turns his MLB career in 2016 and future seasons also. Tony Watson - ABA 2014 9th round selection. Enjoying a very good MLB 2015 season. Watson and Chapman my only bullpen Keepers. Michael Taylor - ABA 2015 10th round selection. An up and coming Justin Upton type? We were hoping and more then happy to roll the dice on this ballplayer foreseeing a lot of playing time and opportunity for him in MLB 2015 with an injured Jayson Werth and Denard Span. He did get his opportunity to play in MLB 2015 and did not put up very good numbers but hopefully he develops and flourishes in MLB 2016 making him a draft steal in hindsight. Justin Turner - 1st round 2015 draft pick at #15. I believe if you want to win in the ABA, you need to be able to hit right handed starting pitching. It was between Turner and Pearce for me and I went with Turner and his ability to get on base versus right handers. I was hoping his bat would carry over into MLB 2015 and it has although not as strong as MLB 2014. Like a few others on my team, his MLB 2015 second half had his overall numbers going down. Danny Valencia - Danny made the ballclub after the ABA 2015 preseason had Josh Willingham not perform against starting left handed pitching as well as I hoped and I opted to replace Willingham with Valencia. He performed well starting against left handed pitching and is enjoying a MLB 2015 where he is hitting right handed pitching and left handing pitching equally well. Although he too is tiring in the second half of MLB 2015. A surprise keeper for ABA 2016. Neil Walker - Obtained with Jake Arrieta in a deadline ABA 2015 trade. Finished the regular season strong with the Double Scoops but had a very disappointing post season. Not having a great MLB 2015 but keeping hoping at 30 he still has a few years of predictable numbers at second base. Fairbanks Drops --------------- Fernando Abad - 2015 7th round draft pick. First reliever selected by the Double Scoops joining Keepers Chapman and Watson in the bullpen. Pitched very well in the regular season and playoffs. Anything more then one season would have been gravy. Pedro Baez - ABA 2015 12th round draft selection. Taken to counter balance the three left handers I had in the bullpen up to that point. Did not have a very good ABA 2015 and was hoping his age would give him a few more good MLB seasons but his MLB 2015 has been poor. Bartolo Colon - ABA 2013 draft 12th round selection. Drafted as a 6th starter and ended up as a back end starter for my 2014 and 2015 teams. Enjoying a typical MLB 2015 but his age and direction of my ballclub makes him expendable. Mike Fiers - 2nd round ABA 2015 draft. Unimpressive MLB 2015 season (Sans no hitter!) to his outstanding MLB 2014 season. He pitcher GREAT for the 2014 Double Scoops during the regular season but both playoff starts were clunkers even though he got the game 1 win. Regardless, the Double Scoops thank you, Mr. Fiers, and wish you future MLB and ABA success. J. J. Hardy - 6th round ABA 2011 draft by Dan. Underwhelming MLB 2015 and age made him droppable. Tim Hudson - During the ABA 2013 draft I approached Ryan with Mississippi about trading for Tim Hudson as I thought he was expendable on Ryan's roster and I needed a 5th starter and did not want anyone left in the draft and thought Hudson could be had. I traded my 7th, 8th and 9th round picks in the ABA 2013 draft for Tim Hudson. Had a decent ABA 2013 and 2014 before a poor ABA 2015 and most likely a poor ABA 2016 if he gets drafted as he is expected to retire after MLB 2015. Started game 163 in ABA 2013 one game playoff and pitched poorly taking the lose against Greg and Buffalo as Fairbanks would miss the playoffs for an 11th straight year. Kevin Jepsen - ABA 2015 13th round draft selection. Right handed reliever taken to assist Pedro Baez as the team's only two right handed relievers. Had a very poor ABA 2015 and do not foresee anything from MLB 2015 to prevent another very poor ABA 2016. Kevin Kouzmanoff - One year PH'ing wonder as hoping and only expected. Daniel Nava - 2nd round ABA 2014 draft choice instead of Jaso to start against right handed pitching. A poor MLB 2015 has made him expendable. Enjoyed a wonderful 2014 ABA season and a decent 2015 ABA season for The Double Scoops. Aramis Ramirez - Acquired in pasted and copied trade from 12-17-2013 : Fairbanks trades SS Xander Bagaerts and ABA2015 5th round pick to Indianapolis for OF Gerardo Parra, OF Torii Hunter, and 3B Aramis Ramirez. Was traded for to play third base for a team I thought could make the playoffs. Poor MLB 2015 has cost him his roster spot. Last of the three acquired ballplayers in this trade. Matt Shoemaker - 3rd round ABA 2015 draft choice. I was hoping for more then one season out of him but that's all I got as he had a disappointing MLB 2015. Did not pitch as well as I was hoping for in ABA 2015 either. Travis Snider - ABA 2015 6th round selection. Left handed batter selected to start against left handed pitching as he killed it in MLB 2014. I was hoping this former #1 pick maybe found his stride to MLB success but a poor MLB 2015 has made him droppable.
