Sept 2013 ABA Cuts

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Miami, Fl: It is with both great pride and sadness that Miami announces
the official retirement of (I believe) the longest running and only
remaining original draftee of the very first season of the ABA, Chipper
Jones. Drafted by the then Vancouver Wave Chipper Jones is likely the
only player to play every ABA season AND do so with the same team! I
could go on and on about his distinguished career but alas, I am choked
up and unable to type...

We wish Chipper well in his retirement and desperately wish he could stay,
as our team is atrocious going into 2014. Lord knows we could use him.

Tough call on so many talented Highlanders but...

SAY GOODBYE:

1) Hanrahan-season cut short after trade to the Red Sox so bye
2) Wade Davis-change of scenery did not help his ERA at all
3) Pat Neshek-whatever
4) Tim Lincecum-former Cy Young winner fallen on hard times
5) Roger Bernadina-from over .300 to under .200
6) Steve Lombardozzi-subpar super sub
7) Josh Reddick-injury riddled disappointing year
8) Michael Saunders-meh
9) Michael Young-part of an ill fated trade for Jose Reyes but at least he plays
10) Justin Smoak-can't have 3 weak 1B and LaRoche is a better fielder
11) Joaquin Arias-guess I can live without his 1 HR
12) Jesus Montero-need I say more-worst 1st round pick ever :
